“On Monday May 28, 2012 at 11:00 hours, five vintage WWII aircraft with the unmistakable¬† sound of their ageless vintage radial engines, will swoop down out of the eastern sky over Placerville and the El Dorado County Veterans Monument. In a salute to those who lost their lives for the freedoms we Americans love so much. Those we honor on Memorial Day answered their call to duty, and in doing so, their honored their heritage, their people and our nation. Now its our duty on Memorial day to honor the legacy of these men and women.” Richard W. Buchanan NC USMC Friends of the Veterans Monument, Inc. 2012 Memorial Day Committee.

These are a few photo’s of the Veteran’s Monument in Placerville along with some of my personal photo’s that I have taken over the years of various monuments to our fallen soldiers. From a grateful American – thank you to all who have given the ultimate sacrifice and for those who continue to serve and protect our freedom. God Bless the United States of America. Mike Southwick
