We are just two months into 2012 and we have already celebrated African American History Month, Valentine’s Day and two important National holidays; Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and President’s Day. We will soon start to witness the winter season coming to a close and the beautiful signs of spring are just around the corner. This means baseball, picnics, water activities and the enjoyment of the outdoors will begin to fill our calendars in the months ahead. Before you break out the flip flops, shorts and sun tan lotion you might want to expect to see a little more cold and wet weather. To help with that I have listed a both outdoor and indoor events as you wait to fulfill the urges of spring fever.
Here are a number of upcoming fun and exciting outdoor events that are scheduled in and around Placerville, El Dorado County and the surrounding Northern California Counties in the month of March. The Sacramento Home and Garden Show is being held at the Cal Expo on March 2-4. If you like the snow then you might try the North Lake Tahoe Snowfest Carnival being held from March 2-11. Another favorite is the Sacramento Boat Show and Off Road Extravaganza and RV Show which will also be held at the Cal Expo from March 8-11. On Saturday March 17th, Old Sacramento will host the 16th annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and festivities – the event is free to the public. On March 31st the Sacramento Rivercats will battle the Oakland A’s in an exhibition game at Raley Field – an event you just don’t want to miss!
There are a number of indoor concerts and plays planned for the month of March and here are a few worth noting. Merle Haggard and the Strangers will play at Three Stages at the Folsom Lake College on March 5th and 6th and Jonathan Winters and friends will play at that same location on March 9th. The ultimate feel good show Mama Mia will be presented at the Community Center Theater in Sacramento from March 13-18. For the Country Music fans you should make plans to attend the Blake Shelton concert at the Power Balance Pavilion on March 15th and Lady Antebellum will be featured there on March 29. For those who enjoy a more classical symphony sound you might want to check out the America’s Got Talent sensation Jackie Evancho who will perform at the Sacramento Convention Center on March 28th.
