Town Center in El Dorado Hills features Todd Morgan and the Emblems

Last Thursday night at the Town Center in El Dorado Hills we were treated to another concert by Todd Morgan and the Emblems. The attendance was great and the music was simply awesome. If you haven’t heard this group then you need to keep your eyes and ears out and be sure not to miss the opportunity. They have an energetic and refreshing sound and play with such heart and soul. If you were there you witnessed a whole lot of people with smiling faces and plenty of folks on the dance floor to evidence they were having a good time. To see the schedule for Todd Morgan and the Emblems, be sure to bookmark their website http://toddmorganandtheemblems.com and perhaps they will be back next year at the Town Center in El Dorado Hills.

Let’s remember One of Our Own Fallen Heroes

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Staff Sgt. Sky R. Mote who was killed in action in Afghanistan on Friday August 10th.

Sky was a graduate of Union Mine High School in 2003 and joined the Marines in July of that year.  He was assigned to the 1st Marines Special Battalion based out of Camp Pendleton, and eventually became an explosive ordinance technician.

He was deployed for both Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom and was a decorated Marine who earned the Purple Heart, a Navy-Marines Corps Commendation medal, a Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal, two combat ribbons and three Gold Conduct medals.

He will be arriving today August 16th at McClellan Air Force Base at Hanger 3 at 4:30 P.M.  From there a procession will travel east on Highway 50 to El Dorado Hills Blvd., up Serrano Parkway and left onto Silva Valley Parkway to pass Silva Valley Elementary and Rolling Hills Middle schools at approximately 6:30 P.M., then to Green Valley Mortuary.

If you can’t make this procession there will be another one on Sunday August 19th, starting at Blue Oaks Elementary school and then continuing on to Faith Episcopal Church 2200 Country Club Drive, Cameron Park.

Services will be held immediately after this procession.

If you can make either or both of these days, all are welcomed to line the streets with flags and banners in support of Staff Sgt. Sky  and his family who gave so much for our Country.

September 2012 Events in Placerville, El Dorado County, and Surrounding Areas

As we begin to head toward the fall season and leave the days of summer; let me share some very exciting upcoming events that are scheduled in and around Placerville, El Dorado County and the surrounding Northern California Counties in the month of September. Beginning Labor Day weekend (September 1-3), the Apple Hill festivities in Camino, CA will kick off their new season and will run through the month of November.  You also do not want to miss Gold Rush Days (August 31 through September 3rd) in Old Sacramento where the town is transformed and the clock is turned back to the 1850’s era. The Foresthill Heritage Festival will take place September 1-2. The Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus will be held at the Power House Pavilion on September 6-9. Another fun event is the Gold Country Fair in Auburn (scheduled from September 6-9). One of my all-time favorites is the California Capital Air Show being held at Mather Air Field on September 8-9.

But wait there’s more! The California Home and Garden Show being held at the Sacramento Convention Center on September 14-16, the American River Music Festival in Coloma (September 14-16), Hot Chili and Cool Cars being held on Pacific Street in Rocklin on September 15, the Oktoberfest on Main Street in Placerville September 22nd and the Auburn Home Show at the Gold Country Fairgrounds on September 28-30.

There are several concerts that might be of interest to you in the month of September. First up will be Doodlebops with Caillou who will perform at Sunrise Marketplace Outdoor Pavilion in Citrus Heights on September 1-2. Dierks Bentley will be in concert at the Jackson Rancheria on September 1, Kool and the Gang with the Commodores will be featured at the Sunrise Marketplace in Citrus Heights on September 8th, Styx will perform at the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln on September 6th, Blondie and Devo will perform at the Sunrise Marketplace in Citrus Heights on September 14th, the Best of Doo Wop  will be featured at the Three Stages at Folsom Lake College on September 15th, Merle Haggard will be in concert at Nevada City Fairgrounds in Grass Valley on September 15th, and closing out the month of September  will be the Country Music Festival featuring a number of contemporary Country Music artists and it will be held at the Orangevale Community Park on September 30th.

Here are 3 special performing arts events that you should mark on your calendar for the month of September. Terry Fator (renowned ventriloquist, impressionist, comedian, and singer from Dallas, Texas) will perform at the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln on September 15th, Disney’s Phineas and Ferb will perform live at the Sacramento Convention Center on September 21st, and the Power Balance Pavilion will host the Tour of Gymnastic Champions on September 21st. Placer County Heritage Trail Museum Tour

The 2012 Placer County Heritage Trail Museum Tour will take place on August 11th (Saturday) and August 12th (Sunday). This is the 5th year that this event has been held and once again there will be 18 museums from Roseville to Tahoe that will be open free of charge from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. All 18 museums will provide historical artifacts and displays, along with a number of volunteer docents who will take you back in time and describe what life was like in our rich Placer County history. Each museum will provide its own unique historical setting and some will even have food and beverages like root beer floats and homemade hand cranked ice cream.

There are 5 Valley Museums to see in South Placer, 6 Museums in Auburn, and 7 Mountain Museums located in Sierra Nevada and the north shore of Lake Tahoe. For more information be sure to visit the Heritage Trail web site and obtain the trail map.

This was our first year to participate in the Heritage Trail Museum Tour and managed to visit the Museums in the Auburn area. We have attached a few pictures for your enjoyment and we hope to see you on the Heritage Trail next year.
